๐๏ธ General Membership Meetings (GGMs) & Union Meetings
๐ What Are GGMs?
General Membership Meetings (GGMs) are where members of OPSEU Local 388 come together to:
- ๐ณ๏ธ Vote on important decisions (budgets, elections, campaigns)
- ๐ฃ Hear updates from the Local Executive Committee and stewards
- โ Bring forward questions, motions, and concerns
- ๐งพ Nominate and elect union representatives (LEC, Trustees, Stewards, Bargaining Team)
These meetings are the foundation of our democracy as a union.
๐ When Do They Happen?
- GGMs are typically held at least twice per year, or as needed.
- Special meetings may be called for bargaining updates, strike votes, or urgent issues.
- Notices are emailed to members (to their personal email addresses only) and posted on the union boards at both Mackenzie Health and ASCO.
๐ป How Do We Meet?
Currently, Local 388 meetings are held virtually through Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
- Members receive a meeting link by email before the meeting.
- Please ensure your personal email is up to date with your steward or executive so you donโt miss notices.
โจ Why Should You Attend?
- Your vote matters: elections and major decisions happen at GGMs
- Itโs your chance to hold leadership accountable
- Youโll stay up to date on bargaining, campaigns, and workplace issues
- Being present makes our Local stronger ๐ช

๐๏ธ Next General Membership Meeting (GMM): To Be Announced
No date has been set yet. Members will receive notice by email (to personal addresses only), and updates will also be posted on the union boards at Mackenzie Health and ASCO once a date is confirmed.
โ๏ธ Why quorum matters:
Quorum is the minimum number of members required to attend a GMM in order to make decisions official. Without a quorum, we cannot pass motions, hold elections, or approve budgets. Every member who attends helps ensure your Local can do its work effectively โ your presence truly makes a difference.
๐ฆ Quick Guide: What Is Quorum?
๐น Quorum = the minimum number of members needed at a meeting to make decisions valid.
๐น If quorum is not met, decisions are delayed until a future meeting.
๐น Every memberโs presence helps ensure union business can move forward.
๐ก Your participation = your power.
